Dr. Kathryn Woodall, DC, has been involved in the healing arts for the last 12+ years using techniques that include chiropractic, meridian therapy, and nutrition. She and her husband live in Kansas and are enjoying the many benefits that CST is bringing into their lives.
George Bernard Shaw is credited with having said those words, and the Lambda CST Certification participants were shown their truth.
The first indication of this came with the realization that people had traveled to Bellingham, Washington from around the world for the opportunity to participate in the three-day physical competency portion of the CST Instructor Certification test. They came with the understanding that certification is granted only to those who earn it, and that if they weren’t prepared it wouldn’t matter what they had paid for the opportunity or travel, they would have to return to try again later.
The second indication was that participants learned how to increase their skill levels within minutes. The group of participants was well prepared to begin with, and yet a small hint or reminder from a Coach or Faculty Head Coach was enough to help them increase their performance even more. It was amazing to experience the way in which live instruction could so rapidly lend progress to one’s skill level, and it was exciting to realize that we were learning to help others to do the same.
Sign in to the CST Forum and you will read a lot about leading by example. I’ve seen it said in other organizations, but never have I seen it lived so well. Coach Scott Sonnon, CST’s creator, exemplifies excellence, strives to improve himself daily, and consistently works toward reaching his maximum potential in this life. The other Faculty Coaches, Joseph Wilson, Ryan Murdock, Brandon Jones, and Ryan Hurst, are just as impressive. Their teaching skills were demonstrated time and again as they led participants, from Instructor Candidates to Coaches, to better performance on each of the three days of the seminar.
I think the thing that struck me most about my experience at the certification seminar is the quality of the CST system itself. You don’t have to try to find yourself within the CST System; you get to use the system to help create yourself. The roster included martial artists, a world-class ski coach, doctors, a physical therapist, a construction worker, computer techs, personal trainers, and representatives of many other careers. Despite widely differing backgrounds each was there to improve in one form or another, and I believe that we all left feeling like that had been accomplished. The work helped us to find things within ourselves, but the application of the principles will allow us to create almost endless ways to have fun, health, and improvement.
